The ZamZam brand takes its name from the sacred source of Zamzam, located near Mecca, where tradition states that Hagar drew water for her son Ishmael. Currently, the brand is owned by Bonyad-e Mostazafen va Janbazan, one of several Iranian Bonyads that control entire sectors of the country’s economy. In 2002, it employed 7,780 people in 16 factories in Iran, the main ones being in Tehran and northeast of Mashhad.
The ZamZam Company began its activity in 1955, with the creation of the first soft drinks production unit named ZamZam in Tehran.
In recent years, it has remarkably developed its activities. It should be noted that the Company started its activity with a single production line and today, 13 Companies located in different cities of the country but also some foreign companies produce its various products under the license of ZamZam of Iran. Since the most modern gasoline manufacturing unit in the entire Middle East belongs to ZamZam of Iran, it can produce drinks with diverse and varied tastes.
